I realize that I have posted this tune just recently; but I just gotta’ post it again (sorry). If you are reading this, you have to watch/listen to this YouTube video (sorry: blog visiting requirement 😎). Such incredibly gifted and fantastic artists => Rosie Langley and ELO.
This song incorporates the orchestral element of a violin – to great effect! ELO is not the first to incorporate more orchestral-type elements, of course, but such a prominent violin in a rock n’ roll song is pretty rare.
Orchestral accompaniment to rock n’ roll firstly brings to my mind Roy Orbison, The Moody Blues, and also the Beatles (in addition to others). It’s a lovely, lovely marriage.
The really early days of rock n’ roll witnessed prodigious use of the saxophone (1950’s) => a major Big Band, jazz component. I don’t know about you, but a really rockin’ sax brightens up my day every time.

Talking about Big Band, you have to hand it to those guys. You may not enjoy Big Band music, but you have to admit: those people were truly master musicians. They were EXPERT with their instruments. Only the more accomplished among them were able to rise among the ranks. Just fantastic musicianship.
Anyway… please watch this YouTube video. Myself, I so enjoyed it.
Love the Electric Light Orchestra! (David Letterman and I both (I suspect)).
